Organic, freeze-dried fruit: The ultimate snack!
Well, it’s suddenly November. The transition back to school has been successful here! My girls go to a school without a traditional cafeteria, so it’s packed lunches every day here! As the plethora of summer fruit (strawberries, peaches, watermelon, etc.) winds down here in Lancaster County, my girls are now frequently seeing apples in their lunches. My little one especially is a slow eater, so I like to pre-cut and pre-skin her apples for her. I learned a trick from a very experienced kitchen helper… pour a little pineapple juice into a bowl then toss the apple pieces in as I cut and peel them, and mix them all around to coat them in the pineapple juice. Even if my little one doesn’t eat all of her apples during lunch, they are still perfectly non-brown when I pick her up after school and we finish them for after school snack!
Eventually, we are going to start relying more and more on organic, freeze-dried Just Blueberries, Just Peaches, Just Cherries, Just Strawberries, and Just Raspberries! We love our little bento boxes for packing lunches and providing variety. Mixing some of the organic, freeze-dried fruit with some Sprouted Raw Almonds with Himalayan Pink Salt and Shiloh Farms Organic Raw American Native Pecans make a wonderful “trail-mix” addition to my girls’ school lunches!
